Favourite Joey Moment → kissing Phoebe on her birthday
Joey is generally portrayed as this goofy and stupid “ladies man”, and he’s often used for comedic relief, so there are literally hundreds of hilarious moments that I could have chosen - but my absolute favourite thing about Joey is his compassion for his friends. I adore this scene because it shows that beneath all his bravado, Joey is actually an incredibly sweet guy. Phoebe was upset because she had just turned 31, and she hadn’t had all the experiences she had planned on having by the time she was that age. One of those experiences was to have a ‘perfect kiss’, so Joey decided to make it happen for her. I love that this moment is so sweet; it’s not sexy or romantic, or anything like you’d probably expect from someone like Joey. He’s not doing this to get into her pants or for selfish reasons – he just does it because he loves his friends and he’d do anything for them.
